Kate Staples, Renewable Energy Program Manager, Dominion Virginia Power

Kate Staples is a program manager for Dominion Virginia Power’s new technology and renewable energy programs. Previously, she developed and implemented demand side management programs for Dominion’s residential and non-residential customers.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Virginia Tech and her MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She is a Six Sigma Green Belt and received her Certified Energy Manager certification in 2014.

Charles Girard, Energy & Economic Attache, Québec Office - Washington, DC

Charles Girard started his career at Deloitte and now serves as Energy Attache for the Québec Government in Washington and adjunct faculty for the Foreign Service Institute. Previously, Mr. Girard was the CEO of Urbariam Consulting, which provides negotiation, finance and management services and coaching to banks, pharmaceutical companies and international organizations (World Bank, State Department, USAID, and more). From 2007-2010, Mr. Girard served as Director for Desjardins Bank, where he managed a project at the Central Bank of Haiti. He also worked at the U.S. Embassy in Paris and the United Nations in Haiti. Mr. Girard’s other long term overseas experiences include Austria, Canada, Senegal, Thailand and Zambia.

Mr. Girard is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Masters in Business Administration from ESCP Europe.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University.

Ronald Kaltenbaugh, President, Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington, D.C (EVADC)

Ronald Kaltenbaugh has 30 years of experience working in a variety of aspects in the IT industry with a current focus on networks, tools, and automation. Since November 2014, he has been the president of EVADC, an electric vehicle car club and advocacy group, and a chapter of the national Electric Auto Association. He is also a member of the Frederick County Sustainability Commission, actively promotes solar energy, and is an avid skier. Ronald obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science from Juanita College in 1986. He also has a Masters Degree in Computer Science from American University. Ronald lives near Frederick, MD, with his wife and daughter. He has been active in reducing his carbon footprint with such actions as having 69 solar panels on his home, installing a geothermal system, and driving a Nissan Leaf electric car.
