John Archibald is the President of American Solar, Inc., a 12 year old design-build company that delivers solar thermal roofing and siding systems, heat recovery systems, and provides thermal design-build-development services for corporate, non-profit, and government clients. He has over 35 years of experience in the private and Federal sectors, in business, engineering, project development, program and strategic management. He has worked in headquarters energy management positions in both the US Departments of Defense and US Department of Energy and managed major system acquisitions for the US Navy.

Solar Heating Roofs and Walls

In the last 3 years, Federal Agencies invested have nearly $5 million to install the largest solar air heating roofs in North America. These solar heating systems use conventional metal roofs and walls to heat buildings, heat water, cut cooling energy use, and provide a better roof. The solar re-roof at 3 Army bases in Maryland will be described.
